Sculpted Moons Coffee Table
This coffee table reflects a sculpting technique I learned over the summer of 2005. The legs are set into the thick top and
then pieces of wood are glued in place around the leg to create a build-up. The legs are then sculpted by hand with an angle
grinder (and a crazy assortment of attachments) into the shape shown. After sculpting, the built-up leg reveals grain and
lines that add visual complexity to the piece. The opposing moons on the top are a simple version of intarsia (definition: a
mosaic worked in wood). The piece is made of ribbon sapele and figured satinwood. Dimensions:(41.5Wx24Dx17.25H)
